Good visit, now off to Edmonton

This morning I asked Lair to take Quinn to school and I headed to the hospital at 8am, knowing it would take forever in rush our I wanted to give myself time.

I got there by 8:45am. He was sleeping when I got there so I just cuddled up to him. He was rather dazed and nonsensicle and barely audible for the 1st 15 minutes. He talked a lot, but I honestly couldn't hear or understand him. What I did hear didn't make sense. BUT once he woke up, had some water and got out of bed, he was good. Dazed, but good. We hung out, held hands, cuddled, went for a walk, hugged.

Quinn and I are packing, eating lunch then hitting the highway to Edmonton.

How do you say goodbye?

How do you say goodbye knowing that the next goodbye could very well be the last?

=(

We have a time line.... the prediction is 2-3 weeks. Dave will be moved to a hospice to live out his last days. We will be there as much as we can...

We are devastated; we were holding onto the hope of a miracle... as of this last week we were really grasping, but now the reality has set it.

I will visit him tomorrow, as planned prior to this news, before I go to Edmonton... but this visit will be different...

Life is too short for grudges. Life is too short for drama. To my family and my Chosen Family, If I don't say it enough - I love you guys SO much.

Busy day for Quinn!

He had preschool this morning, then gymnastics this afternoon, then we went to the Zoo to see the Koalas, Giraffe's and Dinosaurs followed by dinner at Tony Romas! He was an exhausted little boy when we finally came home!

The magic of the Dinosaurs was not so much. He kept telling us they weren't real and couldn't hurt us. Which is great, but come on kid, humor your parents a little will ya! LOL

We have an anual pass (thank you MOM!) so look forward to many trips to the Zoo. Nice to know we can go in stay for an hour or a day, cuz we can always come back! That and we have free parking with the pass (which is great cuz as of July they are charging $5!).

Bob the Builder

The other day we saw a bunch of construction workers & equipment. The conversation went something like this:

Me: Look! Bob the builders!

Q: Mom, their names aren't Bob..... They have their own names

Me: Oh....

Q: Mom - Bob the Builder is a TV show... ... You know that right?

Me: stunned... um, yes, of course Quinn....

Feeling better

Quinn was fine the next day - he was still pale in the morning but had more energy than a cat on caffeine, so all is well in the household.

Saw Dave again yesterday briefly to deliver some flowers for Him to give to Darcy today as it is their 6 year wedding anniversary.

Last night Kevin & Katie came over to watch the game and had a good visit.

I'm still trying to figure out my hair. End result I believe will be using little clips to pin back the sides a smidge.

We are having a visit and dinner at Starens tonight! Quinn's been asking me if we can go since breakfast! lol

Barfarama!

Yesterday turned out to be pretty good except for the last bit!!

I dropped Quinn at moms and headed to the hospital. I must admit, I was taken aback by Dave's condition compared to when I saw him last week. I won't get into details. I just sat with him and help his hand. I really just wanted to be there, have him know I love him and just sat and prayed. About 10 minutes passed and some people walked in. It was his parents in from Sask., so I quickly bid him farewell and told him I would be back sooner than later.

When I left I had a complete mental breakdown; I composed myself and went back to moms where we had a nice visit for a few hours.

On the drive home, I felt compelled to go back to the hospital immediately, so we went home, had dinner then I headed back and boy am I glad I did. He was completely alert and talking, I was so relieved! We had a good visit.

Afterwards I met up with Christy and we went for a beer downtown. I was home by midnight, checked Facebook then headed to bed.

Now, not for the faint of heart....

As always, I went into Quinn's room to tuck him in and kiss & cuddle him... When I opened the door, a strange smell was in his room...

I got closer and stepped in something, took a close look and... Oh my God..... EW! Poor Guy!!!! BARF-O-RAMA! He spewed from one end of his bed to the other and over the side on his stool & floor, oh and his beloved Bear! He was laying with his bum up in the air and his face in puke!

I grabbed some clean blankets and made a little bed for him beside mine, then I woke him up. He got out of bed.

<--- This is kind of what he looked like...

I tried really fast to change him and clean him up - then he started shaking like a leaf; I got him to the bathroom and told him to puke in the toilet, he looked confused, but caught on real quick.

My poor baby... yet at the same time I'm thinking look how grown up he is! Usually he just pukes in my HANDS!....

So I tuck him in his little bed beside mine, I give him a little bucket and a travel ,ug with water. I told him if he's going to be sick to use the bucket. I had just dozed off and I hear 'Mom, where's my bucket?'... It turn the lamp on and give it to him and more comes out. Gave him some water and he laid down without a word.

During all this Lair is trying to stay asleep as he has to be up at 4am to go to work!

Quinn was up at 6:45am needed cuddles (and a bath!). He's doing much better. Breakfast stayed down and the cuddles are plentiful.

Good times.

By the way, mom - thank you for all the times you cleaned up MY barf, I know it was quite the chore in the Long yellow shag carpet!

Dave.

My heart aches for the epic battle Dave has been through with this cancer, and related/non related ailments coming along with it.

He's been in the hospital for 4 weeks now :( ALL I can say is, he is very sick... Complication after complication, it's wearing him thin.

And to top it all off, Darcy's dad is dying. 3 years ago he had a brain tumur removed and has slid downhill ever since. His health is on the brink - family is in town, plans are being made - they are just waiting.... Please pray to give DARCY strength through these turbulent times.

This was taken 4 months ago. I hope to post a new one 4 months from now :)

Snow snow go away...

Ok, I DO miss the weather aspect of BC! (and the Dee.... and Scott... Alex... the list does go on!).

This snow did take me by surprise considering it was 21 above on monday!

Next weekend Quinn & I are heading up to Edmonton for a L O N G O V E R D U E V I S I T !
When I told Quinn he & I were going to Edmonton and daddy had to stay here he panicked and was sad and didn't want to go - Lair said "Buddy - you get to see Auntie Ursula!" He looks at me and says "I don't want to move to Edmonton!" He was quite distraught! LOL He's happy now that he knows it's just a mini vacation!

I'm hoping to connect with Tracey Nichols while in E-Town. I have a big hug I need to give her!

New hair!

I got new hair today - it's an inverted bob. Chopped it all off, sharp point on the right, lesser point on the left. Colored it a shade darker (I wanted it dramatically darker; oh well, next time!) with red highlights underneath. I can pull my hair back or flip the part (play around with it) to bring the red to the top :) So sexy, stylish, and professional plus sassy and fun. I was going to highlight Orange, but decided to start with red to keep it professional.

Fun week

Quinn started his gymnastics class on tuesday. He will have one 1 hour class a week for the next 11 weeks. Every other class will be a theme - next class is Crazy Hair day!

It was so interesting to observe him interact with the 2 coaches and 6 children. We sit in a viewing gallery behind a police line up mirror LOL. He is very well behaved and seems to listen well, which is more than I can say when we are out shopping!

He's excited for the next class and seemed to have tons of fun. The class is 6 kids including him ages 3 and 4.

Dave L. is in the hospital. Has been since last friday. Had a nice visit with him the other day. He has unexplainable abdominal pains. All the scans and tests they are doing are ruleing out their suspicions, however there is not explanation :( On the plus side, I do believe he has one of the nicest views in the whole hospital! A wall of windows ceiling to floor overlooking Parkdale/ the river valley.

We had Kelly Red over for a BBQ. It was nice to sit down one and one and chat.

Steve & Karen came over to hang out with Quinn while Lair & I went to see Coraline in 3D. What a fantastic movie - Odd, bizarre, creepy, dark. I can't believe it's rated "PG Childrens/Family show". I think it should be PG 13...

I want to take Quinn to see Monsters vs. Aliens in 3D, the new Dreamworks movie. It is rated G... So far I haven't read any reviews that lead me to think it would be too much for him. He loves Monsters Inc, and he loves the Incredibles - and this movie is pretty much Monsters inc meets the incredibles... (I personally think the Incredibles is too much violence for the little man, but the damage has been done)...

I woke up with a cold. As did Lair. As did Quinn. Ug. I blame the crappy cold/hot/cold/hot weather. Sucks cuz I wanted to go see Dave again today.

It's snowing again today. :(
