Ok, so they say bad luck comes in 3's?
1. I've been feeling under the weather (stomach aches and yuckiness, won't get into details)
2. I fell on the ice and hurt my knee
and # 3 happened today.
I was getting Quinn settled in to watch a show while we visited with a friend and as I bent down to set it up he jumped up in excitement and *BANG* my mouth met Quinn's head. Luckily Quinn was OK, didn't even cry.... me on the other hand, ran to the bathroom with a mouth full of blood! (I don't do too well with blood, especially my own!)... I wasn't sure how bad it really was but man it looked bad!
After a few minutes once the bleeding stopped I'm left with a plump cut bottom lip. Guess one of my top teeth went deep into the bottom one (not right through it thankfully!).
But I gotta tell you; In my whole adult life, I do not recall ever hurting my lip this bad! (I'm sure it must have happened at least a few times as a kid?)...

Fall down go boom...
On thursday, I went to get the mail. It's right across the street from our house.... I told Quinn to stay on our step as it's icy and didn't want him to fall....
Got the mail. Turned around, took a step and WHAM. In the blink of an eye I was down! On my knee/hip/wrist.... A few deep breaths - try not to cry - try to get up....
Quinn's coming - "Don't cross the road baby! Mommy's fine"....
"MOM.... YOU FELL DOWN!"
"I know baby, just give me a second..."
Finally get myself up, check for blood (none) and hobble into the house.
:( Stupid ice.
My knee is only a little bruised but something inside hurts (muscle? ligament?) It even hurt to drive the van yesterday.
Feeling better today, but will probably take a week or 2 until it's 100%.
Oh well, at least I didn't hit my head!

Quinn: "Mom, what's my bum doing?"
So things aren't so hot here for Quinn and I. We seem to have some sort of Tummy ache bug. This morning, Quinn said, with a very concerned look on the potty: "Mom, what's my bum doing?" ...
I know - TO MUCH INFO! lol... but it was cute.
I've had waves of Lethergy (?) take over, it's making it hard to parent! Quinn seems to have NO issue with his energy, but he's not eating much.
I'm supposed to go out for a goodbye coffee gathering for Heather but fear I won't be able to make it :(
Hopefully tomorrow will be better.

Wonderful weekend!
This weekend was another stellar friend filled weekend. We were SO_STARVED for this kind of interaction when in BC! :(
Ursula & the kids arrived from Edmonton around 8:30pm on friday night. After an hour of the kids playing we started the sleeping part of the sleep over. It took awhile, but by 10:15 they were out. We were going to head to the Regal Beagle to meet up for Heathers going away party, but they partied themselves out before we had a chance to make it over, so we had a few drinks and a visit here.
Saturday was David Allans big 5.0. party. Urs & I got him 50 Coronas. It was a Beautiful day - like, OMG wow, spring is finally here! Windows down, short pants on, no jacket! :) We went for the afternoon with the kids and got to meet some of his family. That was nice, I always like meeting the parents of the friends I love! After dinner we took Quinn to moms for a sleepover and headed over to Dave Lymburners for his 36th birthday celebration. It was a small gathering and we were so honored to attend. He's looking pretty good, but still feeling it; He had to retire early as he was in pain. We bid farewell and headed back to David, Quinnless, and enjoyed the celebration with amazing friends. A fantastic evening and had a great visit with everyone there. We finally headed out at dawn and went home and slept till noon. Did I mention, from 10pm till 6am about snowed a FOOT+ !!? So much for spring...
Met up with Ursula, picked up Quinn and went to Vietnam for an early dinner. She made it home safe and sound, nerves shot, but in one piece.
After we put Quinn down, we watched Marley & Me. We thought a light hearted comedy would be great.... till it turned into an emotional drama... Holy, lots of Kleenex was needed! Such a good movie. The characters were so real; the situations were very believable. Two thumbs up (and a box of Kleenex!).
Well, another Epic weekend has come and gone. Getting our taxes done tomorrow - praying for a big return as our move is a major write off.
Cheers.

Wow, two more weeks have flown by
Wow, another two weeks has gone by - where does the time go!?
We're unpacked and settled; wouldn't know we are new to the house other than the lack of decorating/art. That will come together in time.
Finally got around to decorating Quinn's room - we bought Curious George decals, One large one and bunch of small ones. It's cute - he likes it a lot. It's not as grand as his Jungle scene we painted in his room in Abbotsford, but we figured his taste will change a lot over the next year or two, so using something that is easy to remove/replace would be the way to go.
Have I mentioned lately how much I love our washer & dryer? Only been doing 2 loads of laundry a week - one dark, one light :) Awesome.
Life with Quinn has been incredibly wonderful. He adjusted amazingly well to the move and the house. I really enjoy shopping with him (if we have a shopping cart). It's been quite cold for the past while so we've been making the best of our indoor time with crafts, painting, coloring, etc. The weather is warming up, so I'm hoping to go explore the parks in our area.
Last week I perused the job boards for a part time job. I actually found a few that sparked my interest and applied. I got a call back the next day on one, been playing phone tag, will call them tomorrow. I think my E.I. is good till July but should start looking soon. If my E.I. ran out before I got a job, we would be absolutely screwed. It's hard though because once I start working, when you factor in child care, I'll be bringing home a fraction of what I get on E.I.
We had a busy week with family. Had mom & Guiseppe over for a big dinner. Lair's folks were in town, then Lair's sister & her boyfriend came in and we had surprise visit from Uncle Dwayne & Dwight (from Grand Prairie) in High River for a wresting competition.
Friday night there was a psy party. Lair had to work at 5am so he didn't go. If it weren't for Kerri, I wouldn't have been able to go. I had SO_MUCH_FUN! I haven't been to a psy party in cowtown since 2006!! I was a little nervous walking in by myself, but it felt like we were never gone. I had a mental list of people I wanted to catch up with and saw all but two. Many smiles, many hugs, so nice to see people in the flesh, face to face, not just 'facebook'. David, Vik and Kurt arrived shortly after I did and I spent most of my night by their sides on the dance floor. The music was pretty good; Not as hard as I like it, but dancable. And I pretty much danced all night.
I got home around 4:30; Lair was in the shower getting ready for work. So he greeted me hello and good night, I greeting him hello and told him to have a good day.
Kerri & Jay were going to watch Quinn for the morning; so nice all night knowing that I could actually get some sleep once I got home. I had a lovely sleep got up, had a shower, and started my day at noon, somewhat refreshed.
Kerri & Jay had to leave, but Uncle Dwayne & Dwight were in town so we got to have a visit with them.
So this week was family family family! Awesome!
So happy to be back in Calgary.

Friends and food = love and happiness
Alex was in town last night so we had another potluck. Again, a wonderful success. Great food, but better yet - a fantastic visit with everyone. Quinn was so excited all week that he would get to see everyone. He even managed to give everyone a big good night hug. He was just stalling, but it was worth it - he's really opening up and enjoying all the attention! Things were pretty quiet in BC, I think he's on board with this whole social life thing!
Our door is ALWAYS open. Come on over to play a board game, or watch a movie. Quinn goes to bed around 8/8:30 then we're just hanging around here!

Loving life, loving friends.
So we are doing well with settling in. Upstairs is 95% done. Just need to arrange some furniture and find places for our nick nacks and invest in some new artwork.
The basement is a work in progress. 80% unpacked. I bought some new bookshelves, so once we build them, that will aleiviate 4 or 5 boxes of books! We need to figure out how to arrange the rumpus room for maxinum viewing and surround sound. Just trying to make the best of the space, it's pretty big, (I can hula hoop in it!).
Last weekend was Lawrences 33rd birthday! It started off a little rough as he had a _major_ throat infection - but the meds are working fast and he's feeling much much better. We had a small birthday gathering potluck. Oh how we missed seeing every chair filled around the table with loving smiling faces! I almost wept with joy at one point!
Quinn sure enjoyed seeing everyone. He talks about everybody too! He's so cute. It's his last day at his downtown preschool, he's super excited to start his new one. Me too! It's a 5 minute walk vs. 1 hour+ drive (in rushour)!
Yesterday Quinn and I had a fantastic productive day. It started by going tot he Altadore Gymnastic Club for a tour. I am going to register him in the 'Squirts' program. I think he will love it. They have miniature equipment just his size! We then went to Walmart where we spent 3 hours leisurely shopping for household items. We had a great time. It was not busy and Quinn was in a terrific mood the whole time. He is such a well behaved little guy!
Alex will be in town this weekend. Excited to see him!
Dave L. is doing well. Spent 3 days in the hospital watching the clot and pneumonia - he's home now and eating REAL food! A real pleasure we all take for granted!
Tracey - not sure how she is doing. As I said, she had her See-you party on saturday in Edmonton, then delivered a beautiful Boy on sunday, and had her 7 hour surgery on tuesday. Other than hearing it went 'well', I have not heard anything else.
So prayers and thoughts still beaming at full speed to these two courageous beings.

We're HOME!
Welcome to 255 Copperfield Heights! Our new # is 403.764.4789 I will post more pics once we settle and get all our pics and art up.We had to do our move in two parts as our possession day fell on the Family Day holiday and Blackfoot storage was closed. So sunday we had to move out of Blackfoot, park the truck, and move in monday. Really not that big of a deal, just meant we got to go drink beer twice LOL
Moving out of storage was easy as they have large trolley carts, so just pile it on and walk to the cart. We had 8 peeps including us and did it in ~2hours.
Taking possession felt wonderful. The house was left in like new condition, immaculate. They did such a fantastic job at cleaning. It feel so good to be home! Moving in was good, 6 people including us, this took less than 2 hours! Way to go friends!
Quinn was super excited when we brought him here and so far has adjusted really well. I'm happy to say we are 75% unpacked and I am exhausted! Not an easy task with a little one in toe! We sure are sleeping well! Even Quinn. No problems going to bed or getting to sleep.
Last night Lair came home from work feeling bagged. He's had laryngitis for over 4 weeks. This morning he woke up and didn't feel right so he went to the doctor and he had a really bad throat infection. He has the next 4 days off work, so hopefully the medication will take care of this for him. Poor guy.
Tomorrow night we are having a small birthday party as Lair turns 33 on sunday! (Hope he's feeling better!). Looking forward to entertaining and having peeps see the house. So nice to be back in calgary - we sure missed entertaining the masses when we were in BC.
My WoYoHo class is losing it's personal trainer. I've put this class on hold right now. If $$ permits, we're hoping to join the local gym, they have child minding too! I'm still ordering a hula hoop hoping to make it out to the occasional spring/summer hoop in the park. Life is too crazy right now with the move and such, I need to focus on the house then get a job! God a pray I find a kick ass part time job close to home and find good childcare!!! Once that's accomplished, we're free to just LIVE LIFE!
Good news/bad news for Dave Lymburner. Good news, the cancer has SHRUNK! Bad news, he has pneumonia and a blood clot on his left lung. So, everyone is praying for a hospital bed to open up so he can take care of these and continue the battle.
Our friend Tracey who is battling eye cancer is preparing for surgery (Feb 24). They'll be removing everything including the eye and everything behind to the brain as it's an invasive fast spreading cancer. (As mentioned in another post, she lost her other eye to cancer as an infant). She will never 'see' her newborn who will be along shortly... The doc says if they can get behind the tumor and cut it all out then her prognosis for a long full life is very good. If they cannot get behind the tumor then my prognosis is "very bad"... So she'll have an agonizing wait till post op... This weekend in Edmonton she is celebrating with family and friends, a final chance for her to 'see' everyone. I wish we could make it up there, but with Lair under the weather and his birthday - just can't do it.
We are ever so grateful for our health, family, friends and home... I love you all. Please pray and send energy to my friends.
That's all for now folks! We have a spare room with a futon in it should anyone wish to visit and stay awhile!

Spiritual Teacher and Wholistic Therapist
She says ... "As a Spiritual Teacher and Wholistic Therapist, I guide those re-awakening to their expanding consciousness through one’s own inner pathways of Self. I work with those who are being called to embody awareness, presence and harmony, ultimately inspiring Self-realization..." BUT, I just can't afford to pay for it. It's not exactly by donation! And I hate to fork out the cash to find out she's a flake... The way I see any professional guidance coming my way is if we literally cross paths and someone takes me under their wing, even if only for an evening.
This sure sparked my interest... I feel that I could really benefit from a Therapy session or two to try to sort out my brain and spirituality... I feel that I became aware of my Self, 'woke up', in 2002; My brain was so overwhelmed by all the thoughts & ideas in my head sometimes I thought I was going crazy... but over time, I took baby steps in trying to understand and sort it out.

Horrible Terrible No Good Very Bad Day... Interupted by an hour of fun skating =)
Thankfully Lair was home by 1 to mediate...
By late afternoon we made up... but I'm still in a miserable mood. Thankfully Quinn is in bed, and mom is at her boyfriends, and Lair had plans to go out tonight.... Maybe this is what I needed, some Me time...
I can't wait to get into our house! One more week! I SO need some stability and normalcy in my life! I have felt displaced and lost for the past 3 months. =(
......................................STEVE & QUINN LAST WEEKEND
BACKTRACK...
Last weekend, Steve & Karen took me and Quinn for his first skating lesson. It was my first time on the ice in 14 years. I didn't fall so all was good. Quinn obviously fell lots, but he was determined to try try try. He loved having Uncle Steve hang on and skate with him.
This week I bought him Elbow & Knee pads and a 'skate trainer'. Man, this this was worth every penny! Quinn held on and just went! He fell down a few times, but could easily get up using the trainer. I bet he'll be confident and having 100% fun only after a few more trips to the rink!
Lair went on the ice today for the first time since he was a kid. He didn't fall, but needs some ice time, and needs to brake in his skates.
I am more confident on my toes, never fell, but need much more practice!

Cancer sucks.
I have two friends battling the big C right now.
One, 35 healthy, wife, 2 kids + dog.... Stage 4 throat & Stomach...
The other, when she was a baby lost an eye to cancer. She just got married, is in her 3rd trimester with 1st child, has began another C battle with her healthy eye. She's had surgery and removed 90% of the tumor... it has been determined that they must remove her good eye. In her words, "this will leave me a totally sightless new mom before my 30th birthday"...
My love, support, prayers, energy and respect to them and their families...

Copperfield Preschool
So I stopped and ran in. They have an opening in March! And are taking registration for Sept! So I will go back tomorrow to drop off all the paperwork.
So this one thing off my plate! Next will be Childcare (casual babysitter and Dayhome possibilities). It's hard to figure this stuff out not knowing when I'll be working! Hopefully whoever will take Quinn to/from School if our hours overlap!!
Another thing I've been considering is caring for one or two kids before & after school care (Preschool & kindergarten)... Quinn will have playmates and I will get to stay home?!
SO much to think about....
